So I get off at work at 6pm every day and I just take a ten minute walk to get back to my apartment. However, there was a barrier in the way today. I huge lake where the underpass used to be. No cars were moving and the whole place was sealed off. It rained only for a few minutes and compared to the storms I’ve run through in Guangzhou, it was just a little sprinkle. But that’s all it took to send a big commercial and business street to a complete standstill. Beijing Aeronautics University and Beijing Science and Technology University have also reported flooding within their campuses. I wish I could show a picture, but alas my camera is in my apartment which I cannot reach. So, I’ll draw a picture instead.
Damn… Friday night and I’m stuck at the office… what a bummer…

Could you not just walk around the water and go over the overpass?
@onBlog – some people waded through the waste deep lake, but I’m short so I would have drowned.
@nick – Yeah, that’s actually a railway overpass. For the longest time, the police blocked it off and didn’t let people climb the fence. Eventually they let people through and we all squeezed through this tiny hole in the fence or climbed over the thing.
